Replacement Parts for Printing Machinery
— When OEM Parts Are Unavailable

By Rajan Bajaj, Owner • Bajrang Engineering Works • Gurugram, India

A printing press sitting idle costs its owner thousands of pounds per day in lost production. When the failure is caused by a worn or broken precision component — and the OEM part is unavailable, discontinued, or priced at an extreme premium — the question becomes: where do you find a manufacturer who will make the exact part you need?

This is the question Bajrang Engineering Works has been answering for printing companies in UK, Germany, Netherlands and India for over 30 years. This guide explains the process, the parts we make most commonly, and exactly how to get a replacement manufactured quickly.

Why OEM Parts Become Unavailable

Printing presses have long service lives — many Heidelberg, Roland and KBA presses manufactured in the 1980s and 1990s are still in commercial production today. As these machines age, OEM manufacturers reduce their parts inventory for older models and eventually discontinue support entirely. Even for current models, OEM pricing for precision machined components is frequently 3 to 5 times the cost of equivalent parts from a specialist manufacturer.

The result is that printing companies worldwide — from small commercial printers to large packaging converters — regularly find themselves needing replacement parts that are either unavailable from the OEM or priced beyond what is economically sensible.

How the Replacement Manufacturing Process Works

You send us what you have. A photograph of the worn or broken part with a ruler or coin for scale. A drawing if you have one. Basic dimensions if you can measure. Even a rough sketch is enough to start. Email to info@customisedmachineparts.com or WhatsApp to +91 9810024875.
We engineer the specification. From your photograph or sample, our engineers determine the material specification, critical dimensions, tolerances, surface finish requirements and any heat treatment needed. For complex parts we may ask one or two clarifying questions.
You receive a quotation within 24 hours. A detailed itemised quotation — price, material, delivery timeline, terms. For a simple roller or shaft this is typically a straightforward quote. For complex assemblies we may ask for additional information first.
You confirm the order. Send a purchase order and advance payment. We begin manufacture immediately, with production updates at key milestones.
Quality inspection before despatch. Every part is inspected against the agreed specification before leaving our factory. Inspection report available on request.
Air freight to your door in 3–5 days. For urgent requirements we ship by air freight to UK and Germany. Total time from order to delivery at your door is typically 2 to 4 weeks for most replacement parts.

The more information you provide, the faster and more accurate our quotation will be. The ideal information package is:

You do not need all of this — a photograph and basic dimensions is usually enough. We have reverse-engineered parts from a single blurry photograph before. If your machine is idle, send us whatever you have right now and we will get back to you within hours.

Emergency situations: If your machine is idle right now and production has stopped, WhatsApp us directly at +91 9810024875 and mark your message as URGENT. We will prioritise your enquiry immediately. In many cases we can confirm feasibility and provide a rough cost estimate within a few hours of receiving your photographs.
